12 A-List GMA-7 stars who transferred to ABS-CBN

Aside from the “Asia’s Songbird” Regine Velasquez, there are other notable A-List celebrities from GMA-7 to ABS-CBN. Although they have own respective decision as to why they decided to switch television networks, it is safe to say that they are currently happy and pretty much contented with what they are doing and where they are right now.

Richard Gutierrez

The hunk actor became part of the ABS-CBN’s high-rating television series “La Luna Sangre” alongside lead actors Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. She also reunited with his former Kapuso loveteam Angel Locsin.

Angel Locsin

As of now, Angel Locsin’s showbiz career has a stable trajectory in the Kapamilya network. She recently became judge of the popular ABS-CBN talent show “Pilipinas Got Talent” and is expected to appear in another ABS-CBN teleserye “The General’s Daughter.”

Cristine Reyes

She entered showbiz in 2003 via GMA-7’s talent search “StarStruck,” where she finished as a finalist and was subsequently cast in a string of supporting roles.

An ABS-CBN star since 2008, Reyes has top-billed several projects, including “Eva Fonda,” “Kristine,” “Reputasyon,” “Tubig at Langis,” and “I Can Do That.” She was also part of the Star Cinema productions “The Reunion” and “My Brother’s Romance.”

Toni Gonzaga

As of this moment, Toni Gonzaga is one of the biggest Kapamilya stars today. Now dubbed the “Ultimate Multimedia Star,” Gonzaga has released six albums under Star Records, starred in 11 Star Cinema films, and hosted various Kapamilya programs, notably “The Buzz,” “Pinoy Big Brother” and “The Voice of the Philippines.”

Anne Curtis

She was a Kapuso artist for six years. But in 20013, she transferred to ABS-CBN and became one of the most beloved celebrities of ABS-CBN.

Liza Soberano

Unknown to many, the “Forevermore” and “Dolce Amore” star was a GMA-7 artist for a week. She auditioned to join ABS-CBN’s Star Magic and GMA Artist Center at the same time. However, she decided to choose to be a Kapamilya although GMA-7 first offered a contract.


Known as the original Sang’gre Alena of “Encatadia,” Karylle decided to transfer network to ABS-CBN. She is now on her ninth year as a Kapamilya and a mainstay act of “It’s Showtime.”

Isabelle Daza

She was a GMA-7 artist from 2011 to 2014. But in 2014, she inked a contract to ABS-CBN network.

Iza Calzado

A GMA-7 artist for 10 years since 2001, Calzado was then known for her roles in several drama series, including “Te Amo, Maging Sino Ka Man,” “Encantadia,” “Impostora,” “All About Eve” and “Beauty Queen.”

Jake Cuenca

The hunk actor is a Kapamilya star for more than a decade now. As of this moment, he has been been cast in numerous drama series either as the leading man or the main antagonist of several ABS-CBN TV shows.

Paulo Avelino

Another “StarStruck” alumnus, Paulo Avelino was a GMA-7 artist for five years until 2011. As a Kapuso, he appeared in “Luna Mystika,” “All My Life,” “Ilumina” and “Alakdana.”

Ellen Adarna

She became part of “Bubble Gang,” “Captain Barbell” and “Indio” before. However, it wasn’t until 2013, when she signed up as a Kapamilya, that she felt she reached a new level of popularity.
